Captain Dans in Eldersburg

Not a seafood fan but I cleaned my plate. I've never had a crab cake I liked until tonight. It was absolutely delicious!!! Staff was very friendly and attentive. My new favorite place. Update: while in Maryland for 12 days, we ate here 5 times. It was absolutely delicious every single time!

Excellent Customer Service and Great Crabs.We arrived pretty late, given that they closed at 9:00 and we were ordering crabs. I asked if we should get them to go, but the owner/mgr was super friendly and accommodating. He said they would have a table for us inside set up in a few minutes and we were welcome to stay and eat in. Because they were a bit short-handed, it took a little extra time for the crabs to come out, but our appetizers arrived to the table quickly and our server was great about checking on us. We were there for the $2 crab special and expected them to be small, but they were really small. HOWEVER, I am not complaining at all. The crabs were well seasoned, and juicy, steamed just right. We were the last customers to finish our meal (though not by much), and never felt hurried. Everyone was super gracious and accommodating. Bravo! Great customer service, good food, and a pleasant evening out. Thank you Captain Dan's!

Moved to Finksburg about 2 years ago and have been searching for exceptional steamed crabs... I think I've finally found a go to place with Captain Dan's. We ordered a dozen jumbo crabs today and they were perfectly delicious. I wish I had ordered a few more as the kids were all over them. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Capt Dan has the best crabs around. So glad he opened in Eldersburg. I used to go all the way to Seaside for crabs. No more!!

Picked up crab cakes from Captain Dan’s for my birthday and they came with seasoned fries and Cole slaw. I asked for the crab cakes to be broiled but they looked more pan fried. They were good but after enjoying the great crab cakes at G&M these were only slightly better than the crab cakes I buy in the frozen food section and cook myself. The season fries were the best part of the meal. If you want really good crab cakes I have only found one place that makes them perfectly.

1st visit to Captain Dan’s Crabhouse. Ordered 1 1/2 dozen Jumbo crabs and they were 110% quality. Not a single bad one and cooked perfectly.

The crabs are very yummy. We came all the way from NJ and the drive was worth it. We ordered large crabs and the crab sliders. Everything was delicious and satisfying. We also bought some crabs home!!! We recommend this place.

Just had a delicious takeout meal. I had the stuffed flounder and it was excellent. They had a nice carry out operation going; clean pens, organized, etc. Friendly staff members also. Highly recommend!

Got 1 dozen large +4. 16 large heavy crabs. Perfect seasoning. Spicy but not blistering.

Not so good, at least this time. Got the fish fry platter. Fish cut paper thin, leathery texture with numerous bones. Not much flavor except a mild fishy taste. Likely won't go back.

So good! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Good crabs. Tons of Old Bay on them, too much for my taste. The fried seafood was overcooked. It seemed to be hit or miss. Crab fries were good.

Purchased 6 exlarge crabs which was small as ever then 4 was bad out of the six then the boy threw the bag up on the counter NEVER AGAIN A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

Excellent attentive and friendly staff, crabs are full, freshly steamed, and seasoned perfectly. I’ve never been disappointed by anything on the menu. I don’t get crabs from anywhere else.

Love it! The best crabs around! Other choices are great too including seafood platters, ribs and dummies. The service is the best, Captain Dan and skipper Mike have been in the business many years and know how to run an excellent ship!

I bought 2 bushels of large male crabs for the 3rd time for an annual company picnic. Everyone loves them and said they are the best crabs they have ever had. Lots of happy people!

Soft crab sandwich was excellent. The steamed crabs were well seasoned and full. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Every time I've been here it's been great.

The crab cakes were excellent.And the 2 dozen crabs came out of the kitchen nice and hot.Will go again next time I am in this area. I asked do they ship crabs and yes they do. I will be able to ship them to my home in Houston TX. Loved them tonight. You need to go there and experience the food and service and friendly staff.

I ordered 4 dozen ($200 worth) of crabs. I ordered mediums since the last time I was there I got smalls and was disappointed. I got home and opened the bag. Every crab was no larger then 5in. I caller and asked for the size of their mediums. The guy laughed and said mediums are smaller then largers and larger then small . The legal size of crabs is 5i . Please tell me how you call 5 inch crabs mediums?Update: Management addressed the issue and made it right.

We got our crabs to go. I called the last night just before closing and was able to reserve a bushel of their finest crabs. I was coming from Glen Burnie so to say I was skeptical but desperate for hard crabs is the least. My cousin says he goes here all the time for theirs and so I was convinced they gotta be good. I was not disappointed at all. Every single crab has been delicious. Every mouth when not eating has said that Captain Dan's have been the best thus far in the last two years. Decently priced and delicious I couldn't ask for a better way to spend my money. This is to all the father's out there. Happy father's day and get you some crabs from Captain Dan's Crab House.

Great crabs, great service, informal atmosphere. We had the loaded crab skins appetizer--to die for. The Maryland crab soup was flavorful and well seasoned. The crabs were steamed to order and the best we've had in some time. We will visit again soon.

My family and I have been going to this crabbouse for years. They always deliver on taste. We love to get the $2 each small crabs. When the dining room gets full, however they don't usually put more servers in to help. My only complaint is that they dont have "real" butter, only margarine and that taste is very different for a butter lover such as myself. Overall, I'm always very happy with my experience.

Very nice people and great service. The crabs were well-seasoned and very flavorful. Drove down from York on a Wednesday afternoon. Captain Dan's was recommended by a friend. I was disappointed with the size of the crabs. I ordered a dozen jumbos which cost $105. Now maybe my expectations are out of whack but they sure didn't look like jumbos to me. Large crabs are to be 5 1/2" - 6". Jumbos are defined as 6" - 6 1/2". So technically a 6" crab can be either a large or a jumbo. I'm thinking the ones I got were closer to large than jumbo. Maybe I'm wrong. Hate to complain but just being honest. Anyhow, the wife and I had a very pleasant afternoon at Capt. Dan's and even got to see Keith Mills eating crabs a few booths away!

Call to reserve your size. As an outoftowner I was able to swing in around 2 in the afternoon. The scene was busy, people with bags of pre ordered crabs. The sizes were running medium at best. Then a supplier came in and the world was right again. The largest were a fair price and all consistent quality. The seasoning was good, not over steamed. Based on the 4.4 rating out of hundreds of people cross referenced with my slightly lucky timing. I think this is the best place around

Consistently great crabs at fair prices. They also have a good supply of all sizes of crabs. The seafood is also a very high quality. We have also sampled various dishes in the restaurant. All were good, but the crabs are the star here. Service was also always friendly and good.

Jumbo Crabs were actually Jumbo.🦀 This was my 1st experience here and it certainly WON'T be the last. Worth the price & the Trip!

We got a half bushel of crabs to go and they were cooked beautifully. I'm no expert of Maryland crabs - I've had it several times only - but I can tell these were cooked to perfection. The shells cracked easily without much effort, and in big pieces. Resulting in big delicious lumps of crab meat.
